Pioneer Composite Roller - installation instructions

contents of kit

1 – PCR plate   1 - PCR helix   3 – barrel nuts   3 – 10-32 x 1 ½ screws   3 – lock washers

1 – 10-32 tap   1 - #22 drill bit

1             Remove the secondary from the sled. Remove the three nuts that hold the stock helix in place, twist the helix clockwise and raise it off the mounting studs, once the helix clears the studs release the helix pressure counter-clockwise and remove helix and spring. Separate the fixed and moveable sheaves, and set the moveable sheave aside.

2             Flip the fixed sheave over and from the back-side knock out the stock buttons. Turn the sheave back over and place the new helix down in the fixed sheave with the relieved area of the helix ling up with the button towers, the lowest portion of the helix should sit flat down in the bottom of the fixed sheave.

3             Using the new helix as a template, center the helix and mark the fixed sheave down through the three helix mounting holes (a transfer punch works best). Using the #22 drill bit provided in the kit drill the sheave where you marked it, If you prefer you can leave the helix in place as a guide to help make sure your drill is straight up and down when drilling. After drilling your holes, use the 10-32 tap provided and tap the holes, once again you can use the helix as a guide to tap the holes straight down through the sheave.

4             Using the bolts and lock washers provided, bolt the helix in place, snug the bolts but don’t tighten completely. Put the moveable and fixed sheave together

5      Put the clutch on the bench with the moveable sheave sitting on the bench and the clutch in the open position. Install the secondary spring in the fixed sheave and the roller plate as indicated on the supplied specification sheet. Turn the roller plate about 1/3 of a turn clockwise and bring the moveable sheave up lining the studs up with the roller plate mounting holes. Once the studs are through the plate you should be able to release the plate, the pressure should hold it in place. Use the barrel nuts supplied in the kit and bolt the plate in place. Check to make sure the rollers are contacting the helix, if not tap the helix toward the roller until contact is made. Once all rollers contact the helix tighten the helix mounting screws.
