Quick Spring Adjuster - Installation Instructions |
|||
| The
Quick adjust Spring Adjuster fits all aluminum bodied Kayaba shocks used
on ’96 XT, and all ’97 and newer XTC, SX (R), SRX, and SX Viper
models. GREASE THE TRUST BEARING BEFORE INSTALLING THE SPEED ADJUSTER ONTO
THE SHOCK BODY ALONG WITH A LIGHT COATING OF GREASE ON THE SHOCK BODY
THREADS. It is recommended to measure the installed spring length (the
distance from the retainer ring to the lock ring spring seat) before
disassembly; the standard settings are listed below. |
|||
|
INSTALLATION – REAR SUSPENSION SHOCKS |
|||
| On
’99 and newer models the top edge of the Brass Nitrogen fitting may have
to be filed slightly to allow thread clearance for the Quick Adjuster,
make sure there is proper clearance or thread damage may occur. On ’96 -
’98 models the Nitrogen valve must be removed. Remove both
spring lock rings. Screw the Speed Adjuster onto the shock with a trust
washer each side of the trust bearing. Make sure the upper thrust washer
is centered in the adjuster once slight spring pressure is placed against
it. Be sure the spring retainer is properly in place and set the spring
pre-load to the desired setting. Re-install the Nitrogen valve (’97
& ’98 models) and pressurize using Nitrogen gas ONLY. |
|||
INSTALLATION – SKI SHOCKS |
|||
| MAKE
SURE TO TRY EACH END OF THE SPRING ON THE QUICK ADJUSTER, USE THE END OF
THE SPRING THAT ALLOWS THE MOST CLEARANCE ON THE QUICK ADJUSTER On ’97
& ’98 models the Nitrogen valve must be removed to be able
to install the Quick Adjuster (make sure to release the pressure before
removing the valve). On ’99
& newer models the Nitrogen valve does not have to be removed but the Brass
Nitrogen fitting may have to be filed at the corner to allow clearance for the Quick
Adjuster (allow proper clearance so as to not damage the treads of the
adjuster). Remove both spring lock rings.
Install the Quick Adjuster with a trust washer each side of the
bearing. Make sure the upper trust washer (to the spring side) is centered
in the Quick Adjuster once slight spring pressure is placed against it. Be
sure the spring retainer is properly in place and set the spring pre-load
to the desired setting. Re-install the Nitrogen valve (’97 & ’98
models), and pressurize with Nitrogen
only to the specifications listed below. |
